Our Montessori Casa programs assist children age 2 1/2 through 12 years old in acquiring practical life, reading, writing, math, and cultural skills in an environment of self-paced, individual or collaborative work. The environment is carefully prepared to provide learning opportunities to the children utilizing all their senses, especially the hand which, as Montessori says, is the instrument of the mind. This Montessori prepared environment promotes the children’s natural desire to discover God and themselves through interaction with the created world.
The heart of St. Francis Montessori is its Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, providing ten Atria with eight catechists certified–as of July 2016–to guide ages 3-12 (Level 1-3)in three Atrium environments. We also host catechist trainings every summer. Our Catechesis program has tripled in enrollment since our founding in 2009, serving families in the Montessori community as well as in the Irving community.
St. Francis Montessori recognizes that the parent is the primary educator of the child, and our Guides and Directress work in frequent consultation with the parents to discuss the growth and development of their child(ren). St. Francis is also deeply committed to providing a community environment among all associated with the program.
